- This steep trail ascends through deep forest and exposed rock outcroppings to Lake of the Angels and Mt. Skokomish, both within the boundaries of Olympic National Park. There are a few campsites scattered along this trail. Once Lake of the Angels is reached, one encounters a number of trails and paths leading in different directions. One scramble trail takes hikers onto the east slope of Mt. Skokomish. A second climbs the northwest end of the canyon to higher alpine areas. Overnighters traveling into the Olympic National Park will need to fill out a backcountry permit (located along the trail at 1.3 miles).
The nearest potable water from the trailhead is at Lena Creek Campground, located four miles before the trailhead on FS 25.
