St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church

St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church - Seattle

  • Description:

    • Most of the year this church is attended only by the Hellenic faithful, who carefully park their cars in the quiet Montlake neighborhood. But come October, the church's famous annual Greek festival takes over. For a long weekend, the wailing bouzouki music, stomping feet and sizzling lamb just don't let up. The crowds are nearly as impressive as the huge church itself, capped by an awe-inspiring, stained-glass-studded dome. Bring a sweater, some cash and get ready to clap your way through the endless hora dancing.
