Seoul Museum of Art

Description:

  • Housed in the former Korean Supreme Court building, this public museum aims to bring art to the masses. The interior space is great for contemporary exhibitions, and temporary installations include works by artists from South Korea, Asia, and beyond. Recent shows have included a retrospective of Monet's work, a selection of contemporary South Korean photographers, and a group show of modern Asian painters. The permanent collection includes Korean and Western paintings, sculptures, print work, calligraphic works, photography, and media art. Opening hours are longer and admission fees are higher for special exhibitions.
