- Spring acquires a special feel in Seville, where the Holy Week Festival, the April Fair, and even the Rocío Pilgrimage all take place in the coming and going of special aromas and flavors. More deeply rooted in other parts of Andalusia, but also present in the city, are the so-called "Crosses of May." The Sevillian neighborhoods adorn their patios and courtyards with flower crosses in a half religious, half secular celebration that commemorates the happiness felt by Christ's Resurrection, but also the arrival of Spring, in an explosion of color and feasting. The May nights thus become a special gathering time for neighbors and friends in the courtyards of Seville's homes.
