Description:
At a corner of the gardens fronting the Alcázar, this rococo building is one of Spain's three or four most legendary hotels and Seville's premier address. This splendid palace dwarfs the competition, and is now a Westin hotel. Built in the Mudéjar/Andalusian revival style as a shelter for patrons of the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929, and named after the then-king of Spain, it reigns as a super-ornate and expensive bastion of glamour. Its rooms and hallways glitter with hand-painted tiles, acres of marble and mahogany, antique furniture embellished with intricately embossed leather, and a spaciousness that's nothing short of majestic.
