Description:
- The church was built in 1772 as the crowning achievement of Francisco Pérez del Hoyo, on the site of a 14th century hospital and chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows. Built in baroque style, it has a single nave with a cross aisle. The façade is marked by a large arc, set into the stonework. The doorway, also arched, is flanked by pillars. The whole structure is topped by a belfry. This church is in one of the most characteristic areas of Santander. Although nowadays this neighbourhood is a little outside the center, in the 18th century it was in fact one of the most dynamic parts of Santander.
