  • There is no substitution for live music, but luckily Shanghai has a healthy supply of talented bands, solo artists and jazz musicians ready to please and wow you. Form the new and modern rhymes and tuns flung around the hip bars to the tried and true jazz compilations of yesteryear, Shanghai has the live-music scene you crave.

    For Jazz, which has become more popular in China of late, head to Sound Blue or JZ Club. You find the sultry sounds you love played by experts while you sip delicious cocktails and lean back into plush chairs to enjoy the tunes. Nothing is more relaxing than a fine drink, excellent music and charming company in one of Shanghai's Jazz bars.

    For raving loud music, you might enjoy the live-tunes played at the Live Sound Garage or The Box. Both have lively party scenes that are made all the more fun by live bands and eager crowds of fans, drinkers and dancers.

    Try out your dance moves at M2 or Shanghai Studio where the live music contributes to the overall vibe without being overly distracting or loud. These are great places to party until tomorrow any weekend of the year.
