Shanghai, once home to an impressively large international concession, remains home to the lingering aftereffects of that occupation. The famous French Concession houses many of Shanghai's best French and international restaurants as well as beautiful, colonial-style homes and tree-lined streets under which to enjoy the culinary delights. French cuisine is popular the world over, but nowhere but Paris does it better than Shanghai.
M on the Bund is arguably the most popular French cuisine in town. You'll get a great view of the Bund, and excellent people watching as well as great food and decor. This is a great place to see and be seen in Shanghai.
Delifrance is a more laid back atmosphere, but style high-end nonetheless. You'll find an excellent assortment of deli snacks, sandwiches and soups as well as an overall delicious French dessert menu.
Allure, Citizen Cafe and Le Bouchon are all similarly high-end eateries with diverse French menus that offer more than the rich, cheesy delights the French expats find so alluring.
Sasha's, Hamilton House and Franck and the Bistro offer high end eating with French elements inter-fused with other European characteristics and touches.
