  • Shanghai's Indian cuisine scene is on the rise! With everything from tasty northern Indian fare to the traditional southern dishes, you'll find all styles of Indian represented in Shanghai's restaurants.

Hazara is one of Shanghai's staples. With excellent, fine decor and a friendly multi-lingual staff, you'll be impressed before you even see the menu. The food is first-class, and extremely authentic. You'll adore every moment at Hazara, and that goes for people who don't normally like Indian as well as Indian cuisine connoisseurs.

Indian Kitchen is a typical, low-cost Indian establishment with excellent food, fun service and the trusted reputation of a chain restaurant. You'll find all the classic dishes here done to please.

With a chef direct from New Delhi, Tandoor was the first such Indian establishment in Shanghai and is responsible for starting the craze. The food is excellent and the decor delightful. You'll find yourself craving it for weeks after a visit to Tandoor.

Bukhara is famous for curry, chicken and lamb dishes, as well as a strong samosa. You'll find a rowdy crowd of regulars haunt the place, and for good reason! Bukhara boasts some of the best curry in town!

Vedas is another local and expat favorite for Indian cuisine. The open kitchen and elegant design make for a fun night of spicy food and good company. Dine like a maharajah at Vedas in the French Concession, and head out afterward for a post-dinner drink.

Kaveen's Kitchen offers and elaborate vegetarian menu as well as the specialty chicken tikka. The bar is fully stocked and there is often entertainment to be enjoyed along with the veggie special.

Tasty, every-day Indian is on offer at Patiala Pearl, which is tucked down a side street to avoid the regular riff-raff. A classic Indian menu with accompanying drinks menu makes this a low-key place for a tasty, spicy dinner.

For fusion cuisine, head to Cafe Shinicoco, where you'll encounter the very best of Indian cuisine infused with complimentary foods from around the globe. Be delighted by the creative and tasty treats that are only available at Cafe Shinicoco.

KM Bar offers romance with an Indian twist. Try the curry and chicken dishes, which come highly recommended. The decor and staff are delightful and you'll find yourself wanting to relive your first date here time and time again.

Finally, for those who love Indian and are vegetarian, try Gongdelin Vegetarian Restaurant, which has a large menu of veggie items with a small Indian infusion section.

Whether seeking romance or a classy business meeting location, Shanghai's Indian restaurants have much to offer!
