  • Shanghai has a surprising number of delicious, authentic and utterly irresistible Mexican and Tex-Mex eateries. With the heavenly Tequila bar and margarita creations of Cantina Agave to the surprisingly good cuisine of Zapata's.

And, if you aren't in the mood for the authentic, you'll find the more Americanized versions of Mexican food at Blue Frog, Element Fresh, Southern Belle and KABB. The Nachos are especially scrumptious at all but Blue Frog's fajitas are fantastic. My mouth waters at the mere thought!

Cantina Agave, a great place to take a date, a group of friends or even your parents. The tequila menu is impressive and the margaritas are stiff and tasty. The menu offers authentic cuisine at reasonable prices served by a friendly corps of staff.

Zapatas is your favorite party hot spot by night, but by day the Mexican cuisine there is actually extremely good. The burritos, enchiladas and nachos are all house favorites, while the drinks are strong and in countless varieties.

Maya offers great cuisine, authentic decor and friendly staff. You wont' be disappointed by the food, nor the excellent service. Meanwhile, the central location means you have the perfect excuse for an after dinner drink on Huai Hai Road.

El Mexicano offers traditional Mexican fare for Shanghai's locals and expats alike. The decor reminds most of a Mexican joint in the USA, and the food is surprisingly authentic, in the overseas Mexican way.

Mexico Lindo adds a step of elegance to Mexican cuisine in Shanghai with mood lighting, stiff drinks and a delectable menu that even a Mexican expat in Shanghai would be happy with.

Latina, situated on Shanghai's famous food street, offers outdoor seating, tasty traditional Mexican fare, and a great place for local people watching. The central location near several dessert shops makes for a fun date spot.

Mi Tierra occupies three floors in an impressive villa in the French Concession and serves up delicious, authentic Mexican and Tex-Mex fare.
Yucca offers beautiful snacks, excellent cocktails and the ideal place for a light meal and a drink with a beautiful date.
Teotihuacan is named after the home of the gods, and with succulent decor, food and an impressive tequila list it's no overstatement.
El Gato Verde offers authentic Tex-Mex cooked up by a real Mexican head chef. Flavors ignite and mingle on your palate.
