  • Traveling with children isn't always easy, and in a place as massive as Shanghai it can be downright daunting. The child-friendly food scene, in Shanghai, is a breeze however, and this makes a family vacation to China's largest city all the more easy and fun!

O'Malley's Irish Pub is the number one place for a family meal in Shanghai. I know you are thinking, "take my kid to a pub! no way!" But hear me out: the outdoor play yard and jungle gym is open all summer, and the rooftop is almost always reserved for children's birthdays and events. Meanwhile, adults love the food and beer selection and the interior decorated like a ship wows teenagers.

For a 24h pizza joint, Melrose Pizza really does an amazing job. Should your kids start craving food they recognize from home, Melrose is an affordable, clean and low-key option.

The Rainforest Cafe is the perfect reward at the end of a long day in Shanghai for well-behaved children. With magic in the air, animals abounding and food they'll love-- its a treat for them and a relaxing break for you.

Another low-key option for pizza is Gino's Cafe in Luwan. Central enough so that you can stop by and dine quickly before heading to the museums or shopping downtown, this is the ideal lunch spot for a hungry family.

Dongbei Ren is a fun family dinner outing that can also be educational. Designed like a northern cabin, the food is era-specific and regional to northern China. Great food, fun decor and an old-world feeling leave kids feeling like they jumped back in time.

Chocolate desserts, coffee and more at Whisk are a great attraction, but whats more important to the family traveling together is the great selection of after-dinner treats for every taste bud.

The outdoor seating at Sasha's makes this a place where women with strollers congregate all summer to socialize their tots and have a few mimosas with the lady friends.

American food is on offer at the highest quality at Blue Frog, and the lunch and seasonal specials are especially good. For the picky eater, this is a fall back you can always rely on.

Who doesn't love the deliciously unhealthy cuisine at the Ikea cafe? The meatballs are great, the hot dogs cost less than a dollar, and you can fuel up the family for cheap while shopping!

Finally, should you be the health conscious type, Element Fresh offers a large menu of healthy items to keep your family energized, healthy and ready to tackle Shanghai's next attraction!
