For the financier or banker, Lujiazui is a happening place. Located on the riverside in Pudong/Lujiazui, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower is, perhaps, Shanghai's most famous piece of architecture. This tripod of red bubble buildings is home to the TV tower as well as a museum and astonishing view of the city. But banking isn't all that is done around the area. You'll also find amazing restaurants, bars and clubs as well as shopping venues and entertainment.
For shopping, check out the Super Brand Mall, which is a western-style and design mall complete with food and endless boutique shops. The Nextage Department Store is the inverse, with larger shops and more Asian approach to shopping.
JinMao Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Center dominate the nearby skyline and add height to Pudong. You'll find the views atop either of these massive structures stimulating and impressive, and these are the best places for whole-city views in Shanghai.
Century Park, behind the Pearl Tower, is a beautiful tiny park complete with artificial lake and stage for small concerts. Restaurants in the park offer romance and charm while the park itself provides much needed greenery to the city's modern quarter.
For family-friendly entertainment the Ocean Aquarium and Botanical Gardens are ideal places in Pudong to head for a lovely afternoon. You'll find all manner of species of plant and animal at these establishments and in the middle of a cement jungle these reprieves are almost necessary.
