Top 10:

Shanghai Offbeat Activities

  • What's no to love about the offbeat activities in and around Shanghai?

For started, Tongli water village, about an hour outside Shanghai, offers a popular sexual culture museum that is decisively adult-only. However, if you ever wanted to learn about sex practices from bygone eras, this offbeat spot if perfect for you!

On the opposite spectrum, how about a symphony orchestra playing at a local hotel? Why not pop in and check out the local talent! Shanghai's well known film festival is similarly offbeat but extremely popular among Shanghai's grunge and creative scene.

For active fun for everyone, Dico Go-Karting is a fun event that everyone enjoys-- especially given there is a bar inside the compound. If you arn't a machine fanatic, try the similarly fast equestrian course. And, if you don't want control over your mode of transportation at all, try the fun psychedelic tunnel under the Huangpu River.

To keep the active offbeat activities going, head to the Modern Military Sports Club where you can workout your skills at firing an AK47! Who doesn't want to do that while on vacation?

And if sobriety isn't for you, than try out the drinkers with a jogging problem, the Shanghai branch of the Hash House Harriers.

Finally, the Bund Museum and Urban Planning Center offer two distinctly different view of Shanghai's past, present and future.
