  • Exploring Shanghai can be difficult without the aid of a local or tour group. If you don't speak Chinese, it isn't always easy to get around, buy tickets and get information in your native language. Sometimes, taking a tour is the best and smartest way to see Shanghai.

    The Bund is a must-see on any tour you decide to take of Shanghai. Combining this with the Jade Buddha Temple is a great ideas as they are close in proximity and make a fine comparison of the old Bund and Temple to their now modern surroundings.

    Don't leave Shanghai without seeing the acrobats show! There are a lot of scams active in Shanghai surrounding the shows, so going through a tour or ticketing company is the smartest option.

    Hangzhou, near Shanghai, is a lovely day trip. Don't miss West Lake or the nearby Buddha Temples. A day trip to Suzhou or the nearby water villages are common, and these places are hard to reach without speaking Chinese or using a tour company.

    Whisking your way down the Huangpu River on a tour boat is a delightful way to learn about the great sites along the shores and soak in fresh air while relaxing on board.
