Opening just at press time, the Swissotel was too new to review, but if the brand's reputation holds true here, then guests can expect a comfortable stay with all the usual luxurious amenities and quality service. There will also be a Swiss gourmet bakery proffering a decadent selection of chocolate treats. Further recommending this hotel is its highly convenient location right atop the Jing'an Si subway station and right next to the City Air Terminal Building, which is the terminus for the Pudong and Hongqiao airport shuttles. And for trivia lovers, the six-story apartment building in front of the hotel was once home to the Shanghai writer Eileen Chang (Zhang Ailing; she lived on the fifth floor) who wrote the original story on which the 2007 movie Lust, Caution is based.
