  • Shanghai is a diverse and truly international city. A rare thing in China, Shanghai offers foods from around the globe that are authentic, owned by natives of the foods origins, and a prime representative of the delicious variety of spice and life. In Shanghai, you really can travel the world's culinary delights without leaving the city.

Laris, with an Australian chef, is one of the hottest restaurants on the Bund. You'll find delicate chocolates, rich and hearty brunches and a martini bar to ebb the evening into a night on the town. You could spend all three meals at Laris without feeling like you are not getting variety.

For authentic, delicious and reasonably priced Mexican/South American cuisine, Cantina Agave offers the best in town. The margarita pitchers are legendary, while the burritos and enchiladas give new meaning to life.

For Chinese cuisine, head to Dongbei Rend, Di Shui Dong or Gongdelin Vegetarian Restaurant. The first option is northern cuisine, where you'll have noodle dishes and hearty meats and breads. The second option offers central Chinese cuisine, complete with spice, vegetables and rice. Finally, the vegetarian option offers nation-wide variety without compromising. These three establishments offer a range of Chinese foods so you can experience more of China without leaving Shanghai.

For a relaxing night, head to Sasha's or Haya's, both offer excellent regional-specific cuisine. Sasha's is British pub food downstairs with great outdoor seating and five star dining upstairs. Haya's offers Mediterranean food done authentically and expertly without breaking your budget.

For chocolate lovers, Whisk is the best option in town. It is also a french-style restaurant, but women go there for the chocolate so why not eat dessert first?

Finally, for a low-key meal. Melrose Pizza is an expat favorite that also delivers. You'll find the taste of home in a box delivered right to your mouth, a little piece of lunchtime happiness in a foreign land.
