Fanguzi Art Gallery

Description:

  • Painter Xu Liang Hai opened this gallery in 1993. The room is only 30 square meters in size, but its white washed walls with bright light coming through the glass front serve very well to show the paintings of many modern Chinese artists. Though Mr Xu's exhibits are mainly oil paintings—impressionist, classical or realist in style— he is open to all kinds of art. They must just please his eye! Therefore, Fanguzi, the name being a Chinese transcription of Van Gogh, distinguishes itself from many art galleries in Shanghai by strictly adhering to special esthetic standards.
