- Nan Pu Bridge, built in 1991, has navigation overhead clearance of 46 meters, accommodating any steamer with tonnage of 55,000. With a full length of 846 meters and width of 30.35 meters, the bridge has six motorways and two pedestrian lanes. The bridge's two towers are of reinforced concrete and stand 154 meters high. Twenty-two pairs of high-tension wires tightly connected with the steel beams of the main section of the bridge flank the towers. Historically it is the first modern, heavy-duty bridge in China, spiraling over the Huang Pu River like a gigantic dragon lifting its head and trunk.
