Description:
If you have just the wall space for some revolutionary art, this place has just the right "left" poster for you. Tucked away in the basement of a French Concession apartment building is the personal collection of a private individual, Mr. Yang Peiming. It comprises more than 5,000 Communist propaganda posters from 1949 to 1979. The presentation is a bit haphazard, but the posters themselves are quite interesting. Chairman Mao figures prominently, of course, as do eager, ruddy-cheeked young workers and fervent Red Guards. Vintage posters are for sale as well (from around ¥700/$100/£50 and up), but not necessarily the most interesting ones. The center is worth a peek if you're in the area.
