In the vein of the recent Shanghai trend of converting abandoned industrial buildings into art centers, the space formerly occupied by the No. 10 Steel Plant of Shanghai (covering a total area of 50,000 sq. m) on the edges of the French Concession has now been partially converted into a sprawling urban sculpture art center complete with galleries, artists' studios, restaurants, offices, and outdoor exhibition space. The original red-brick warehouses have been wonderfully preserved and are just as interesting architecturally as the sculptures, installations, and art works by Chinese and international artists they now house. If you like your art in 3D, this place, still being developed, is worth a visit.
