- Arguably the best and most internationally renowned gallery for contemporary Chinese art, ShanghART took some time to build its reputation. The Swiss owner, Lorenz Helbling, claims he is probably the first contact for local and overseas admirers of modern Chinese art in China. The contracted artists at this gallery have shown at international exhibitions and are emancipating themselves from the stigma of being recognized as Chinese artists to being known as artists in their own right. Single and group exhibitions are featured frequently. ShanghART's website also offers regularly changing exhibitions online. Admission is free.
