Siena's rich historical legacy may lead visitors to think that there isn't much in terms of modern nightlife, but this is far from the truth. Because of its location in the Chianti region, Siena is home to some of the finest Italian wines. While there isn't much by way of floor-thumping clubs, there are plenty of bars and pubs to get a tipple with friends. Al Cambio is a favorite among college students who live in the area. This bar is open late on weekdays and weekends and sometimes features live rock shows.
Caffe del Corso, located on Branchi di Sopra, has a great selection of cocktails. There is also a small dance floor upstairs for those who want to don their party shoes. For some great live music, head to L'Officina, another popular haunt among university students.
The Palio season brings with it a whole host of entertainment options, from outdoor dance celebrations to live bands performing on every street corner. But as these are highly spontaneous events, you will just have to come during the Palio to experience it for yourself.
