Although Siena is usually a stopover for visitors to nearby Florence, it is well worth staying here for a few nights to really get to know the town. While most of the accommodations are a little ways out of the town's center, some hotels and hostels are situated in the heart of the action.

A much simpler, less-expensive option is the Piccolo Hotel Il Palio. Don't expect much more than the basics here, with a good location, just steps from the local train station.
