  • The Best of NileGuide
  • Well-seasoned meats, fresh pasta and other ingredients cooked in the finest extra virgin olive oil from the Chianti region all characterize Sienese food. Go to the Osteria Nonna Gina for fine home-cooked Sienese food in a cozy setting. Located a few minutes away from the Duomo, this is popular among locals as well as visitors.

Ristorante Arnolfo has some of the finest dining in Siena, and has the Michelin stars to prove it. It features tasting menus of six or more small courses, so you can get a sample of Siena's best dishes, or an a la carte menu. Calling ahead to make a reservation here is highly recommended because it fills up fast.

For a treat after lunch or dinner, head to Il Gelato or Brivido, the town's most famous gelaterias. They are steps away from the Campo and perfect for a warm summer's day. During the wintertime, consider heading to Nannini, a bakery and café with excellent Tuscan sweets. Try the sweet specialty of Siena, the panforte, a cake made of honey, almonds and candied fruits.
