Set off a side street in the historic district, this little gem serves artfully prepared and healthy comfort food using fresh ingredients. In four small rooms with high ceilings and squash-colored walls, the place specializes in soups, salads, and sandwiches ranging from purely healthful to decadent. Service can be forgetful, and even, at times, rude, so beware. For brunch, you might have blueberry pancakes or biscuits and gravy. At lunch, the chicken fajita salad has lots of veggies and is topped with guacamole, while the Reuben sandwich is thick and served on robust pumpernickel, with German potato salad on the side. Quesadillas are also popular. Their German chocolate cake is so moist it seems to be imploding. On warmer days, the fenced-in patio offers nice outdoor dining.
