  • In Singapore it's usually about glitz and glamour, and lovers of good old fashioned pubs where you can enjoy draft beer, watch some sport and maybe throw a dart or two, are often sorely disappointed. But with a large expat community and some 10 million visitors a year, you know it won't be long before you run into an Irish pub somewhere along your travels around Singapore. Here we highlight ten of the best pubs in Singapore.

Irish pubs are almost as ubiquitous around the world as a certain burger chain, so it's no surprise that four of the entries on the list are Irish pubs. Molly Malone's kicked off the trend in Singapore back in 1995, and it's still popular with the after-work and sport-loving crowd, as is Durty Nelly's across in Raffles Boulevard. The Dubliner has long been the go-to bar for supporting Ireland in the Six Nations series, or shooting some pool with your pals, while relatively recent edition Mulligans with its two branches in Clarke Quay and at Resorts World Sentosa respectively, is all about drinking and good times.

Back at Boat Quay, two of the most popular bars on the strip are the Penny Black - a 'Victorian' pub built in England and shipped in its entirety to its present location in Singapore, and Harry's Bar, made famous by bank breaker Nick Leeson. If you find yourself gasping for a beer whilst out hitting the malls of Orchard Road then make your way to Emerald Hill, a hidden alleyway of restored shophouses, and home to popular expat hangouts No 5 and Ice Cold Beer.
