For an Asian city, there are a surprising number of fabulous French restaurants in Singapore, many competing for the title of the very best restaurant in town. Here, we're talking white linen tablecloths, immaculate service, impeccable presentation and the very best in fine-dining French cuisine. While many of the restaurants on the list serve up classical French fare, others pay homage to their location, mixing in Asian ingredients and twists.
It is almost impossible to choose between most of these restaurants, such is the high standard, and you can expect an evening of culinary indulgence at any of these establishments. With much deliberation however, the top spot goes to Joël Robuchon Restaurant - the more formal of Mr Robuchon's two Singapore restaurants, where diners can expect the quality and service of a three Michelin-star restaurant as it currently exists in Las Vegas, Paris and Tokyo. Try out the 16-course degustation menu which showcases Robuchon's repertoire of inventive French classics, and which many famed food critics have described as pure 'magic'. L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon also makes the cut, with equally as high a standard of cuisine amidst a more informal setting.
Les Amis group is a huge culinary success story in Singapore, their flagship restaurant Les Amis, renowned amongst Singapore's high society for providing a flawless gastronomic experience. Their sister restaurant Au Jardin situated in a colonial building in the heart of the Botanic Garden is a good option for romance, whilst the only non fine-dining option on our list goes to Les Amis' casual bistro - Bistro du Vin, an excellent choice for an informal evening of rustic French fare.
