Singapore is a small city so it's not difficult to get in amongst the action. If you're looking for a downtown hotel so you can be where it's happening, then your best choices for location are Orchard Road and Marina Bay. Orchard Road is Singapore's shopping belt - and with the highest concentration of shopping malls in the world, all boasting several restaurants, you won't need to wander far from your hotel to keep entertained. Marina Bay is the new heart of Singapore - close to the Central Business District, and home to several theatres, shopping malls and many restaurants, it is a great choice if you want to be at the centre of all the action.
Number one on our list goes to the Marina Bay Sands, which has been hogging all the headlines in the international press lately thanks to its stunning rooftop swimming pool atop the three staggering hotel towers. Linked to an enormous shopping mall, casino, theatre and numerous restaurants you need never leave the premises. Across the bay is old colonial favourite the Fullerton. Its proximity to the financial district and the bars and restaurants of both Boat Quay and One Fullerton make this a popular choice with business and leisure travellers alike.
Also within the Central Business District is the luxurious Mandarin Oriental, which faces onto the Esplanade Theatre and is a pleasant walk across the Helix Bridge to the Marina Bay Sands complex. Also in the vicinity, albeit slightly further away from Marina Bay you will find world-famous Raffles Hotel and snazzy boutique option Naumi. Meanwhile up on Orchard Road, the centre of consumerist Singapore, The St Regis with its personal butler service and fleet of personalised Bentleys leads the pack, but you won't be disappointed with stays at the Four Seasons or the Grand Hyatt either.
