There are times when choosing a hotel when you aren't interested in quirky or design features, you just want to go with a name you can trust. And in a city where it is all about brand names, it is no surprise that all the major hotel chains are represented in Singapore. These are the hotels where you know you can expect a clean and comfortable room, high levels of service, quality food and beverage outlets and reliable internet connection.
All of the brand name hotels are clustered around the Marina Bay/Central Business District and Orchard areas, where they are convenient for business travellers and holiday makers alike. Orchard Road, famed for its endless stretch of luxury shopping malls and designer boutiques is one epicentre for brand name hotels in Singapore. The St Regis is the glitziest of all, with its crystal chandeliers, personal butler service and fleet of personalised Bentleys, or choose from international chain five-star favourites the Four Seasons or the Shangri-La, which has its flagship hotel here. The Grand Hyatt is nearby on Scotts Road while the Marriott is strategically placed in the centre of the Orchard Road shopping belt.
The Marina Bay and Central Business District area is home to several theatres, shopping malls and many restaurants, and so is a great location choice if you want to be at the centre of all the action. The hotels in this area also have the benefit of stunning city views, including the luxurious Mandarin Oriental and Ritz Carlton, which face onto the Esplanade Theatre and are a pleasant walk across the Helix Bridge to the Marina Bay Sands complex, as well as being convenient for the Singapore Flyer.
