There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants to choose from in Singapore, and you will find most places exceedingly welcoming of your little ones. It is not unusual to see large families dining together, with three generations or more tucking into a dim sum brunch or enjoying an evening meal together, and most restaurants will happily provide high chairs and children's portions.
Several restaurants have gone that extra mile, however, specifically setting out to make the lives of mums and dads easier – providing specific child-friendly activities and play areas so that the whole family can enjoy eating out. The Tanglin Tree leads the pack with its treehouse play area, featuring a slide, swing, sandpit and flying fox, all within easy view of the outdoor dining terrace. Likewise Sol Playground Café provides both indoor and outdoor activity areas, and also specialises in party packages.
You can still enjoy a sumptuous champagne-fuelled brunch at the plush Four Seasons One Ninety restaurant, where the ballroom is transformed into a children's play area complete with bouncy castle, balloon art and face painting, and the little ones can tuck into their own buffet of hot dogs, nuggets and vegetable snacks, leaving you to enjoy your champagne in peace.
Older and more adventurous children will enjoy trying out the various stalls of a hawker centre, such as Lau Pa Sat, and the convivial pedestrian atmosphere of the restaurants at both the East Coast Seafood Centre, and Robertson Quay – of which Brussel Sprouts makes our list for its Kids under 10 free lunches at weekends.
