If you're looking for a romantic restaurant for a special meal for two, then you'll find plenty of choice in Singapore. The tropical climate lends itself to alfresco dining under the stars – surely the best way to enjoy a romantic evening – and many of the restaurants on the list reflect this.
Unique to Singapore is the rainforest which encroaches on the city, allowing for intimate dinners amongst the foliage, and the top three restaurants on the list take full advantage of this. The beautifully landscaped gardens of One Rochester allow for privacy and solitude as you sip martinis to the sound of the waterfall and chirping cicadas, while Au Jardin Les Amis and Halia have chosen the most spectacular garden of all as their base – the Botanic Gardens.
Villa Bali is the most casual restaurant on the list – but no less suitable for a date, with its intimate pavilions dotted in amongst the undergrowth of this hidden gem. At the other end of the scale is Iggy's with its innovative cuisine, degustation menus and lengthy wine list making it the perfect choice for a special occasion.
If you're staying on Sentosa, then The Cliff at the Sentosa Resort and Il Lido at the Sentosa Golf Club both provide the perfect location for a date, allowing you to take in sunset before dinner, while back in the city centre, Indochine Waterfront should be at the top of all visitor's lists, with its skyline and river views.
