For electronics, you can go to SIM LIM SQUARE (@http://www.simlimsquare.com.sg/) at ROCHER ROAD.
As for toys, you will just have to visit department stores, near SIM LIM SQ, you have Bugis' BHG or you can head down to Orchard Area and shop around.
As for hotel, if you dont mind, you can try Hotel 81 near SIM LIM SQ, there are Hotel 81 Rocher, Bugis, Dickson and Bencoolen to choose from. (@http://www.hotel81.com.sg/)

In addition to Sim Lim Square which another response has mentioned, try Mustafa Center in Little India (http://www.mustafa.com.sg/index.asp). They are open 24/7 and sell EVERYTHING. The ground floor is full of electronics at a good price probably comparable to Sim Lim Square.
not sure what kind of toys you might be looking for but there is this which sells nostalgic stuff: http://www.most.com.sg/shop.php
or http://www.simplytoys.com.sg/
the mint museum might have a shop: http://www.emint.com/
Hotel-wise, it depends on your budget and desired location. Personally I quite like the studio lofts of Studio M at Robertson Quay which charmingly becomes vibrant at night. http://www.studiomhotel.com/

You should stay at the hostel Prince of Wales at Little India, 101 Dunlop Street. Go visit http://pow.com.sg/rates.php
YOu can do your electronics shopping 5 mins walk away at Sim Lim Square and toys shopping at Bugis also within 10-15mins walk away. Try also Mustafa, the only 24hrs shopping mall in Singapore, with all you can find! Remember to try all the good Indian food at Star inn cafe around the corner and local food at the hawker centres.

Another option for electronics is the Funan IT Mall - six floors of electronic shops, you can go from shop to shop checking the prices and asking for the best deal before you make a decision. It is near Clarke Quay and the Colonial District so handy for visitors. It is a short walk from City Hall MRT station. Remember if you are leaving the country to ask for a GST receipt so you can reclaim the tax at the airport, and make sure you get an international warranty! http://www.nileguide.com/destination/singapore/things-to-do/funan-digitalife-mall/959167
Hotels - 100s of choices - depends on your preferences and budget. Go to the NileGuide hotel pages and you can search under 'Top 10s' on the left hand side depending on your needs:

Hi I agree with Karen and Catherine...though staying at Little India may not be everyone's cup of tea..it is very very distinct in its culture and vibe! Yes to Mustaffa..Its a one stop mall but be warned that it can get very crowded. Dont forget to have a meal in one of the many Indian eateries!
