• Niky is the kind of unpretentious, earthy dining spot that puts guests at ease in a whimsical setting, then wows them with fabulous food at a fair price. The restaurant, which is part of the Hotel Niky , has indoor tables, but for the full experience, sit in the partially covered garden, which is open year round thanks to a wood-burning fireplace. In summer, the garden is festooned with a great array of flora and fauna, including caged parakeets, a parrot, and five tortoises that dominate the garden's water features. Niky specializes in salads and grilled meat and we suggest that you try everything, including the huge shopska salad, a skewer of grilled meat, and perhaps a sache, an earthenware dish of meat baked with vegetables. Wash it all down with a glass of Bulgaria's Kamenitza beer.
