Rotonda Sv. Georgi

  • User Review:

    • It is consisted of an oval part. The Rotonda itself has been in the eastern part - most of it today is under Sheraton hotel. This is the only building so well preserved - from Roman age. it has been used as Roman bath. In the end of 4th centurty ithas been used for baptizing rituals. The Rotonda's name is St. George since 6th century. When otomans came, they turned the rotonda in mosque and called it "Gyun djamia" - they named it this way after th roses they started growing in the yard of the mosque (gyun means rose in Turkish). Today the church is renovated.
