- The Pope Valley Winery has a colourful history - it was originally built way back in 1897, and was named the Burgundy Winery & Olive Factory. It closed down and reopened several times in the years following prohibition, until it was bought by a group of Pope Valley residents in 1998. Today, it produces some of the finest wines in America, turning out only 4000 sought-after cases a year. The wine is still matured in the cellar dug for this very purpose in the year 1909. Visits are welcomed, and even children and pets are allowed.
