- This is a metal three-part bridge 334.3 meters long and 23.5 meters wide which crosses the river not far from the Smol'nyi Institut. It was built in 1911 under engineer G.G. Krivoshein and architect I.P. Anyshkov. It was opened (as the Peter the Great bridge) in 1911 and could easily have become a symbol for the city if only St. Petersburg had not already had a huge number of monuments. The bridge has lamps doubling as lighthouses and granite steps leading down to the water.
