User Review:
- Peter and Paul Fortress (Petropavlovskaya Krepost) is the birthplace of Saint Petersburg. The small Hare Island has a lot to offer! You can see majestic St Peter and Paul Cathedral - the very first cathedral in our city, now the sepulcher of the Romanovs. This place for Russia is like the Westminster Abbey for the Great Britain. The grave of the last Russian Emperor Nickolas II and his family is also there. There are many other museums on the spot. The scariest place is the former prison sells of Trubetskoy Bastion. The real prison is reconstructed. Many Russian revolutionaries were imprisoned there. Visit the printing house. See the incredibly interesting exhibition devoted to the history of St Petersburg. Walk on the bastion's roofs. Take a boat trip starting from one of the fortress' piers. See the changing of guards ceremony. Have a good traditional dinner in Austeria restaurant. Enjoy yourself! PS You can get there by metro - Gor'kovskaya station is just 10 minutes walk.
