I can recommend my tour service.
A car and a guide (2 in 1).
Plus additional services.
Answered by Anastasia , Saint Petersburg, Russia
Having worked for the cruiser-line company several years, I learnt a lot of different formalities that can occure. Firstly, tourist coming on board of a ship just for a day, don't have vizas. Therefore it's better to have a contact with a local company or a tourguide in advance, without this it won't be possible even to leave the port territory.
When ready with this. You should decide whether to spend this day in or out of the city. Both variants have lost of advantages.
If you're interested you can contact me and I can give you more details about all the mentioned questions.

The center of town, of cause! You are beginning from famouse Nevsky Prospect: from Alexando-Nevskaya Laura the one end, near Moskva Vokzal. Then you're going by troll or bus stright to Palace Square, Winter Palace on Neva River. You will get great impression from this historical place and need rather power to visiting Winter Palace from inside. He is HUDE! Feeling oneself as at XVIII century! But there is one the best MODERH(!) painting collection here. Then you walking down Neva Embankment and doing great shot trip to PETERGOFF - suburb Tzar-residence(with big park surraunded), by river train. When you returne, it will be evening or well-known White Nights (from May to July). All this for late spring and summer. In winter or autumn you can visiting additional in second half of day Russian Museum on Nevsky Prospect, walking around, seing Savior's Cathedral on the Blood, Mikhaylovsky Palace, doing some shopping just here down The Nevsky and visiting Great Philharmony Society (Hall) in the evening (from 7 to 10 p.m.) This day you are never forgot, sure!

Hi!
The first question is: have you already got or do you plan to have a Russian visa? If you have or will have, you can see the city yourself or with any local guide, no problem.
If you don't have a visa, your guide MUST provide visa-free option for you (tour tickets, visa-free arrangements, whatever it may be named). It should be done well in advance.
Otherwise you won't be even allowed ashore and arguing with Russian customs officers is no use :(
we have very.... special customs...These angry (though always mini-skirted and painted) women point their 9-inch manicured fingers and yell in broken English " NO VIIIZA! TU ZE SHIIP!!!!" very shrilly & loudly....
So first you should sort out all necessary red tape formalities with your guide. Most private guides working with cruise line passengers are experienced & can do that.
Be sure that the private tour is much better (and cheaper) than the tours offered by the ship!

Onу day is definitely not egnough, but to see the main sights and to feel the atmosphere of the city is possible. first of all you''ll need a russian visa to leave the port or you''ll have to join any of the tours the ship offers. (I am talking from my own expirience as I am a local guide and quite often work with tourists coming to St-Petersburg by ship). The variaty of tours the ship offers is quite excessive (better to join one of those which includes panoramic city tour and, let's say, the Hermitage or alternatively hire a local guide if you want to be independent. I would be glad to offer you my services. if you have questions-I will be glad to help you!

You are welcome!!! Can you imagine that in St-Petersburg there are as much people as in Norway! One day is not enough but you can see the most popular sightseeings if take a car and English speaking quide to see the beautiful city center and then go to Pushkin, Kathrin`s Palace to see the famous Jasper room. After that visit our St-Isaac Cathedral (the biggest one after Rome and London), in summer it works at night. Prices are reasonable. Contact me in advance and you will enjoy the most beautiful city!

Hello!
I should agree with my coleeges.
It depends of the time you are going to come. Anyway, You should visit main interesting places in the center. For this you can use city excursion. There are a lot of them even now. It takes about 3 hours for the excursion. Or you can hire a car with a guide. For sure, my agency can also arrange it for you. If you have time and a wish after that you can visit the most popular museum of our city- Hermitage, to get upstairs and to see the city from almost the top of Isakievsky Cathedral. To have a nice lunch in specially Russian restaurant, to make a chanel trip, cause Petersburg from the river-its anothe city, full of magic.
If you need, I can tell you the main prices for one-day trip)))
Please feel free to contact me for any need you may have about Petersburg.

Hello!
Thank you for your question. =)
In my opinion, the best way to use 1 day in Saint Petersburg is seeing as much as possible.
9.00 start from the ship
9-12.00 sightseeing including the fortress, Saviour on the Spilled Blood or St.Isaac's
12-14.30 The Hermitage tour
14.30 - 15.00 trip by hydrofoil to Peterhof to see the fountain park and one of the palaces.
15.00-17.00 tour in Peterhof
17.00-18.00 back to the ship.
The time in the schedule can be definitely updated)
Everything will be adjusted according to your wishes and needs.
I will organise a special Tour ticket if you don't have Russian visa.
Professionalism, reliability, friendliness - that is Saint Petersburg Style!
You are welcome to ask any questions!
