Public Question Asked by NileGuide about St. Petersburg

So, I have to buy or reserve a train ticket from SPB to Moscow 45 days before I go? Is that the case with travel by plane? How much is that?

Hi, there are dozens of trains everyday from SPb to Moscow. You can just come to the Moskovsky vokzal and buy the ticket to the next train direct from the station - it will be cheaper. There are trains that take you to mosocw in 3 - 4 hours as well as overnight train that takes 7 - 9 hours.
The advantage of taking train is that you travel from city center to cty center and dont have to spend hours getting to and from the airport which can also be expensive.

Hi,you can take a look at this sites, but i think from my own experience, that's no cheaper, than train and you should pay some many in this low-cost airlines for baggage and in the end going from airport to Moscow downtown costs too! Some Express from Moscow airport will either to expensive (like a cost of you flight ticket without baggage) or too long-because of terrible Moscow traffic in this direction.Really,I'd recommended the train-if you even buy the fastest for 70 EU (called Sapsan),you anyway come earlier than this fly!and without traffic in the heart of the city and with all you baggage, that you would like with you to take!

You don't have to book in advance, although you should be able to get a cheaper ticket if you do.
You should be able to turn up at the station and buy although at busy times you may not get the next train.
Flying is simple as well, there are pleanty of flights.
