Fun Nightlife in St. Thomas

  • The Best of NileGuide
  • It's not hard to find a bar to let loose and have fun in when you're in St. Thomas. The place is packed with them, from the east end to Havensight. The bars where you can have the most fun are those that offer a combination of booze, entertainment, and a lighthearted atmosphere, which St. Thomas is in no short supply of.

Topping the list has got to be Duffy's Love Shack, the legendary party spot whose appearance betrays its reputation. Located in the parking lot of Red Hook Plaza, this little grass shack offers big time fun for both locals and tourists alike, who come from all over the island to get a little crazy until the wee hours. There's nothing particularly special about the drinks or music, but somehow Duffy's consistently manages to beat the competition when it comes to all-out fun. Nearby joints such as the Caribbean Saloon (upstairs at American Yacht Harbor) and Molly Malone's are other popular spots nearby which encourage you to let your hair down, dance on the tables, do body shots ... or just chill and listen to the music.

The Havensight cruise ship dock area also has no shortage of fun bars, including the brand new Senor Frogs. In addition to a full menu and outrageous drinks, they offer lots of special event parties, live bands, and ... wait for it.... there's even a pool!!!! Don't go unless you want to get a little crazy. After all, their motto is "save water, drink tequila." Also in Havensight you'll find the Dog House and Shipwreck Tavern, both across the street from each other in Al Cohen's Mall. Shipwreck offers drinks, pool tables, flat-screen TVs in a warm wood-paneled interior, while Dog House offers music, beers and biker dudes in an open-air setting.

Just a short walk away from Havensight, in Yacht Haven Grande, you'll find two more uber-popular bars, Hubbly Bubbly and Fat Turtle. Hubbly Bubbly is a hookah lounge with a cool Middle Eastern vibe that heats up after hours when the DJs start spinning. Fat Turtle is casual barbecue joint which draws night crawlers who are attracted by its live music, contests, plasma TVs and the "party that never ends."

And pleasure seekers should not ignore The Greenhouse, the waterfront institution which is one of downtown Charlotte Amalie's favorite evening hangouts. Each night there's happy hour from 4:30 to 7pm and a different type of entertainment is featured, from reggae to disco. Also don't miss the two-for-one drinks on Tuesday nights.
