• Villa Blanca offers a cheap, no-frills alternative to the glossy name-brand hotels on St. Thomas. Run by the eponymous Blanca, the hotel is set in the hills overlooking Charlotte Amalie amid three acres of woodland. The views both ways are amazing, the pool is refreshing, and the rooms are comfortable but slightly worn out and not spectacular. However, whatever the hotel may be lacking in pizazz is more than made up for by Blanca's hospitality. The rooms come in various sizes and configurations (including detached cottages) but all come with bathrooms, kitchenettes, a/c, and continental breakfast. Rates start at $85 in the off-season and rise to $155 in season, depending on size.
