Across from Crown House you will find Skytsborg Tower (Sky Tower), now known as Blackbeard's Castle. This Danish watchtower was built in 1679. Legend has it that at one time the infamous pirate Blackbeard, Edward Teach, used this tower as a stronghold. The property and grounds, which encompass a hotel and gift shop, are open to the public ($12 admission fee) as part of the Historic Walking Tour of St. Thomas.
