• Best-selling author Peter Mayle, whose writings have drawn thousands to visit Provence, occasionally drops by this boutique hotel. Here he is welcomed by two ex-pat Brits, John and Pauline Larkin, who took a portside Provençal house and transformed it into a chic little inn. They have decorated it in a sophisticated eclectic style, even including their collection of framed albums of the Sex Pistols and the Rolling Stones. The courtyard pool is the focal point for socializing guests sipping aperitifs. You get the feeling that you're staying in a private home discreetly decorated with art and paintings when you lodge here. Like the public lounges, the rooms are also furnished in an eclectic mix, and each unit comes with a spacious bathroom as well as a balcony or breakfast terrace. Some accommodations are large enough for extra beds or cots. Indian rugs, Chinese armoires, and beds adorned with Provençal boutis spreads enhance the warm, intimate ambience. Although the hotel doesn't have a restaurant, the staff prepares breakfast and light lunches for guests, or even a little supper for those arriving late.
