Description:
This bar, restaurant, and club is a favorite haunt of artists and actors, including Andreas Wilson, who's appeared in such movies as the Oscar-nominated Swedish flick Evil. The food is good, or else you can drop in to listen to some of the best DJs in the city . . . and to drink. The writer August Strindberg used to live in this building, which is named after one of his books. Surprisingly, many of the recipes that are used to create the dishes date from the lifetime of Strindberg, including some of his favorite foods. Of course, for modern tastes these recipes have been updated. For starters, try juniper berry-cured filet of deer with lingonberries or a warm beet salad with plums and blue cheese. Main-dish delights range from a seafood casserole flavored with saffron and tarragon butter to orange- and carnation-glazed breast of duck with red wine jus. The milk-chocolate soup with boiled pears and roasted almonds comes as a surprise and delight.
