City Center
The city is situated in a valley which is open on one side. From the center of town, one is surrounded by picturesque vineyards and slopes in almost every direction. Due to its unique topographical site, the city has a distinctly southern flair. Green park-grounds spread from Neues Schloss to Höhenpark Killesberg. You will seldom find gardens of this size and length in other large cities, although there are also a great deal of pedestrian walkways. Königstraße is the main shopping street, but Calwer Straße, with houses dating from between the 17th and 20th Centuries, is by far the more elegant and historically interesting location. Two beautiful castles are situated side by side and, in the very city-centre, the Schlossplatz, the Schillerplatz and the Markthalle are only some of the attractions you will pass whilst just strolling around. Cafeterias, restaurants and snack bars are on almost every corner. Those on the search for drink and history will appreciate Stuttgart's Erste Lokalbrauerei - Stuttgart's first brewery, located in Calwer Straße. Here beer is served that is actually brewed in the restaurant. © WCities
