Staatsgalerie (State Gallery of Stuttgart)

Description:

  • The city's finest art museum exhibits works spanning some 550 years. However, the best collection is from the 19th and 20th centuries, especially the works of the German expressionists -- Kirchner, Barlach, and Beckmann -- as well as representatives of the Bauhaus school and Blue Rider group, such as Klee and Feininger. There are also examples of French art of the 19th and 20th centuries and of the European and American postwar avant-garde.
