Description:
- Better eating (and atmosphere) than a sushi train, more relaxed than restaurant-style dining, Iiza is a welcome addition to Newtown's bustling King Street strip. It's what's known in Japan as izakaya, traditionally a bar that serves substantial snacks to soak up the alcohol, but in this Inner-West setting the food is proving to be more of a draw than the drinks. Since Iiza's opening in January 2010, diners have been flocking here for clay pots of Kakuni pork belly, soft shell crab salad and lotus roots stuffed with chicken and deep fried until delicious. That said, don't forget to try one of the Japanese beers or sakes on offer. Iiza opens daily at 18:00 and closes late. - Kashmir Brummel
