Description:

  • By setting up shop in Kings Cross' infamous Kellett Street, French-Vietnamese restaurant Libertine has paved the way for a new attitude to this once-seedy area. Chandeliers, gilt frames and gold-leaf wallpaper put the colonial aspect into the interior of dark wood furniture, while the outdoor area has echoes of a tropical veranda. The fresh cocktails on offer make an excellent start to the evening, taken either at the table or in the intimate lounge. The spicy corn cakes with caramel dipping sauce are the must-try of the snack menu, and the Bang Bang chicken (organic chicken cooked in lemongrass and chilli) is a favorite main. - Kashmir Brummel
