- Bird Cow Fish is a classy Surry Hills diner, with classy clientele and classy food. Outside on Crown Street, where the beautiful denizens of this most fashionable of areas stroll past the big picture windows, off to wherever their fashionable lifestyles are leading them. Bird Fish Cow is itself filled with media types, this is mostly a café/providore during the day (although they do serve food all day) and at night is one of Surry Hills' better restaurants. The ambience is friendly and relaxed, and the food is good. Perhaps after dinner, head across the park to the Hopetoun Hotel – maybe 100 metres. This humble pub has cheap beer, and is the spiritual heart of Sydney's independent music scene. Once again: a vegetarian's warning – there are NO vegetarian options at Bird Fish Cow, so don't even ask.
