Waterfront Restaurant

Description:

• You can't help but notice the mast, rigging, and sails that mark this restaurant in a converted stone warehouse. It's one of four in a row next to the water below the main spread of The Rocks. It's popular at lunchtime, when businesspeople snap up the best seats outside in the sunshine. At night, with the colors of the city washing over the harbor, it can be magical. You get a choice of such things as steaks, mud crab, fish filets, or prawns. The seafood platter, at A$132 (US$119/£60) for two, includes lobsters, Balmain bugs (small, odd-looking crayfish), prawns, scallops, baby squid, fish pieces, and octopus. The food is simple and fresh, at prices that reflect the glorious position and views. Come here instead of Doyles.

  In the same building you'll find sister restaurants Wolfie's Grill (tel. 02/9241 5577), which serves good chargrilled beef and seafood dishes for A$24 to A$34 (US$22-US$31/£11-£15), the Italian Village (tel. 02/9247 6111), which serves regional Italian cuisine for A$24 to A$34 (US$22-US$31/£11-£15), and the Imperial Peking Harbourside, which has Pekingese food, such as five-spices crispy duckling and salt-and-pepper crab, for between A$23 and A$38 (US$21-US$34/£10-£17). All four restaurants offer fantastic water views and indoor and outdoor dining.
